  • Sunday of June Bank holiday weekend - Seafood and Shanty

  • On Sunday 2nd June 2019 Ballycotton pier will be a sea of BRILL-iant old fashioned family fun for the annual Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton. Expect lots of live music, entertainment, food stalls, arts and crafts and shanty buskers and local musicians DUFFYS CUT - dancing on Ballycotton pier is encouraged!

    Illusionist, balloon modeller, face-painting and food stalls offering a smorgasbord of delicious food including fish and chips from Pier 26, Sushi, Lobster from The Lobster Man, Crepes from Lolo Kitchen, Volcano Woodfired Pizza and many more local culinary treats and delicious home-made cakes from Breda Paul.

    RACHEL ALLEN will be bringing glamour and culinary wisdom to the pier at 3pm and ARUN KAPUL (Green Saffron spices) will also be adding a little spice at 3.30 pm to our fish demonstration area.

    Affordable BOAT TRIPS will be available from the harbour around the Ballycotton Lighthouse Island and the Ballycotton Lifeboat crew and Ballycotton Cliff Rescue crew will be on hand sharing coastal safety advice.

    A highlight of this #BankHoliday weekend event is our final event of the day on the pier.. the CRAB DERBY - an annual spectacle/experience not to be missed! This will take PLAICE at 4.30pm on Ballycotton Pier.

    NEW for 2019 is a 1-Hour Beach Clean and Recycled Art Competition at 11 am on Sunday 2nd June at Ballynamona Beach with Flossie and The Beach Cleaners and Clean Coasts Ballynamona. See Facebook for more details. Great prizes to be won including a holiday at Trabolgan Holiday Village.

    A little background information on our village festival:

    Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton / Family Fun Day was first launched in 2012 by the Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton committee and Darina Allen demonstrated fish dishes in association with the Ballycotton Fisherman's Association. Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton is a collaborative tourism initiative started by the business community of Ballycotton and supported by the entire community.
